When you assign a service to a team member, you can optionally set a custom price or duration that overrides the service default. This is useful when different staff charge different rates, or when one team member works faster than another.
When to use overrides
Common reasons to use price or duration overrides:
- Seniority-based pricing — Naledi (the owner) charges R320 for a gel manicure, while Thandi (a junior technician) charges R280 for the same service. Set the service default to R280 and override Naledi's assignment to R320.
- Varying speed — An experienced therapist may complete a massage in 55 minutes while a newer therapist takes 65 minutes. Use duration overrides to allocate the correct time in each person's calendar.
- Introductory rates — A new team member might offer a discounted rate while building their client base.
- Specialist premium — A team member with specialist training (e.g. a certified lash technician) charges a premium for a service that other staff offer at the standard rate.
How to set an override
There are two ways to set overrides:
- When assigning a service to a team member, fill in the optional Price override and/or Duration override fields before saving.
- On an existing assignment, open the team member's Services tab, find the assignment, and click Edit to update the overrides.
Leave the override fields blank to use the service's default price and duration.
Note
On the public booking page, clients see the price for the specific team member they've selected. If Naledi charges R320 and Thandi charges R280 for the same service, clients who choose Naledi will see R320 and clients who choose Thandi will see R280.
