Prices and duration

How pricing and duration work in Booklink, including ZAR currency and time slot calculations.

Last updated

Every service in Booklink has a price and a duration. The price is shown to clients on your booking page, and the duration is used to calculate which time slots are available on any given day. Getting these right ensures clients always book the correct amount of your time.

Pricing in South African Rand

All prices in Booklink are in South African Rand (ZAR). Prices are entered and displayed as whole Rands — for example, enter 250 for R250.00.

Internally, Booklink stores prices in cents to avoid rounding errors, but you never need to work with cents directly. Always enter the amount in Rands when creating or editing a service.

Here are some example prices from Naledi Beauty & Wellness to illustrate typical service pricing:

  • Classic Manicure — R250 (45 min)
  • Gel Polish Application — R320 (60 min)
  • Eyebrow Shape & Tint — R180 (30 min)
  • Swedish Massage – 60 min — R650 (60 min)
  • Swedish Massage – 90 min — R900 (90 min)

Duration and time slot calculations

Duration is set in minutes. Booklink uses this to determine which time slots are available when a client books.

For example, if Naledi is available from 08:00 to 17:00 and a service takes 45 minutes, Booklink will offer slots at 08:00, 08:45, 09:30, 10:15, and so on — automatically spacing them so appointments don't overlap.

If a team member has other bookings on that day, those times are blocked out. The client only ever sees slots that are genuinely available.

Per-team-member price and duration overrides

When you assign a service to a team member, you can optionally set a different price or duration for that specific person. This is useful when:

  • A senior technician charges more than a junior one for the same service
  • One team member works faster and completes the same service in less time
  • You want to offer an introductory rate for a new team member
